Teens and Sexting

As texting has become a centerpiece in teen social life, parents, educators and advocates have grown increasingly concerned about the role of cell phones in the sexual lives of teens and young adults. A new survey from the Pew Research Center’s Internet & American Life Project found that 4% of cell-owning teens ages 12-17 say they have sent sexually suggestive nude or nearly nude images or videos of themselves to someone else via text messaging, a practice also known as “sexting”; 15% say they have received such images of someone they know via text message.http://www.blogger.com/post-create.g?blogID=3955489348755908576

'Sexting' Teens Can Go Too Far

What happened to the time when if you liked a boy at school you'd pass him a note?
These days the disturbing new trend in teenage flirting is sending nude or semi-nude photos from cell phone to cell phone: instead of "texting," they call it called "sexting."
While the X-rated offerings are usually intended just for a boyfriend or girlfriend, the photos often wind up being shared.http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/WorldNews/sexting-teens/story?id=6456834

New Jersey Senate Approves Teen Sexting Bill

New Jersey lawmakers recently approved a bill that would treat "sexting" teens as misguided rather than criminals, in an attempt to educate minors instead of punishing them. The bill, approved overwhelmingly by the State Assembly in March, is now going to the Senate for final approval. If passed, juveniles caught sending sexually explicit photographs on their phones, an activity known as "sexting," would be forced to undergo intense educational programs rather than face criminal prosecution.http://www.mobiledia.com/news/95767.htmlhttp://www.mobiledia.com/news/95767.html
